6 more days....

So, only 6 more days until I have to go back to work. I am completely excited and completely devastated at the same time...mostly I'm afraid Jason will completely screw up, but I'm sure Oliver will be alive when I get home...lol...

Hip Ultrasound

Oliver had hip ultrasounds done on Monday because he was a breech baby. It was just to make sure his hips formed properly due to his position....so after waiting 45 minutes at Sparrow...which is a miracle but still completely annoying...everything checked out just fine! So now, we go back to the Pediatrician on January 12th for some immunizations and a growth check!

First Christmas

Odie's first Christmas was definitely an eventful one!

First he went to Allendale to Uncle Greg and Aunt Ashlee's new house. He had a wonderful time opening presents and playing with his cousins Alexis and Beckham. Aunt Sara and I are convinced they will be BFFL (Best Friends For Life) except Great Aunt Tracy says boys don't do that...

Then Odie went to Grandma and Grandpa Feazel's house for his very first Christmas Eve...He got some great presents, including his first MSU robe, but spent most of the night snoozing...

Then Finally...Oliver went over to Grandma and Grandpa Garrett's house for Christmas Day! He got wonderful presents and was able to spend some time with his Aunt Saundra and Uncle Adam...not to mention the Amazing Evan!! (Or as he has been called...Even...he he) We can't wait to see what trouble these two will get into next Christmas!!

Smile!!

So, I can't get him to do it for the camera...but I got a little smile with my cell phone :)

1 Month Check-up!

So...more like 6 weeks...but anyways...

He weighs 9lbs, 13.5oz and is 21.25 in tall! He sure doesn't feel 2 pounds heavier than last time, but I guess as he grows ounce by ounce I get used to it!

With all his gas and spit-up, the pediatrician recommended that we put rice cereal in his formula to help keep it down. She suspects that Oliver has some reflux.

Other than that, everything went well...no immunizations today...but next time he will have 3 shots...so bring on the Tylenol!!

Also, I can't wait for Oliver's pictures on Monday...I doubt I will get a smile out of him, but I hope he's at least awake and happy!! Who knows...we might not get a single good picture...he he.

The switch to soy...

So, Oliver has been in so much pain from all the gas and such, we decided to try a different formula. Today has been our first day on Isomil Soy formula. It's lactose-free and is supposed to be digested easier.

So far, so good...he's waiting almost an extra hour to eat each time and the gas has already been cut down drastically. He's been sleeping without waking up in pain all the time...so let's hope this is it! I kept feeling so bad for the little guy!

Yesterday he went on his first antiquing trip with Mom and me. He slept most of the day in the Baby Bjorn in a little reindeer suit...I should have taken a picture...I will have to next time!!

Speaking of pictures...he has his first professional shoot next Monday, the 15th...I can't wait!!

1 Month Already!!

So, in about 9 hours, Oliver will be 1 month old!! His 1 month appointment isn't until the 12th, so I don't have any new stats to share, even though I think he's gaining weight by the ton :)

I took a few pictures of him...

Grow, Grow, Grow!!!

Oliver had his 2 week check on Monday, and he only gained 2.5 ounces in a week. They were a little concerned because they like to see at least a .5 ounce weight gain a day. We were a little worried, but he had been having some diarrhea and we thought that was the cause. So, they had us make some changes and scheduled an appointment for Friday (today).

Well, today he weighed 7lbs, 12.5oz!!! He had also gained .75 inches in length already!! So...9 ounces in 4 days!! So now, no more worrying, and i can't wait to see how much he weighs at his next appointment on December 12th!!

And don't forget...cheer for U of M and MSU tomorrow...if they both win...MSU goes to the ROSE BOWL!!! YAY!!!

Busy week for Oliver!!

On Thursday, Oliver went to his first dentist appointment...I know, weird, eh? The dentist extracted Oliver's little neonatal tooth. Needless to say, he was fussy the rest of the day, but it was going to have to come out sometime.

Then, this morning, I was heading up to get around for my own Dr. appt and Francine drops something at my feet...it was Oliver's umbilical stump! (Gross, but if you have dogs, not surprising) She claimed she thought it was a piece of Dublin jerky :)

That means that Oliver was able to take his first bath tonight! Besides the fact that he peed all over Jason, he he, he seemed to enjoy himself!

Here are a few pics!

1 week appointment!

Everything went well at Oliver's one week appointment! He's gained 2 ounces. He has another weight check next Monday and he will be seeing a pediatric dentist about his neonatal tooth...so we'll see what he has to say!

Here are a few pics of his first Dr's visit :)

A few pictures of the little man!!

First Car ride!!

Oliver sleeping in the NICU

His First Picture!!

Oliver Daniel is Here!

Okay...so while I can stay awake!!

Sunday night I woke up around 3:30 AM and within a few seconds I felt this enormous gush in my underwear. I kind of sit there for a second and then it hits me...uhhh...my water broke!!

So I grab my cell phone and rush to the bathroom...water keeps gushing and gushing...so I called Jason (who was downstairs) and told him to wake up!

I blow dried my hair and got dressed. we started packing a few things, since we weren't planning on going in for another 8 days...I know, stupid us!!

We eventually get to L&D around 4-4:30 am. They hook me up and the Nazi tech shoves her hands all the way up to confirm my water broke...uh duh...look at the towel!!

I was completely closed and only having light contractions. Since Jason and I had popcorn at midnight, they wanted to wait until 8 AM to schedule it...stupid popcorn!!

So, we waited around and watched bad TV until just before 8. I went in the OR and got my spinal and waited for it to begin. The nurse anesthetist and anesthesiologist were hilarious and helped me get through my nerves.

At 8:27 AM Oliver was born, crying with apgar scores of 9. Soon he started grunting and not breathing so well, so the NICU team came and rushed in not telling me ANYTHING!

They took him to the NICU and I had to wait until 9:15 for her to finish sewing me up. She then took DH right up to the NICU to check everything out while I was in recovery.

Long story short, he just had some fluid in his lungs, but it took them until 4 PM on Monday to confirm it.

He weighed 7lbs 5oz and is 19 inches long.

Jason and I are very proud!

37 Week Appointment

Nothing new to report! Oliver is still heads up...at least as far as we can tell...

I actually got in and out of there and back to work in less than an hour...which is a miracle in itself!

I go back next Tuesday for my 38 week check-up and a quick u/s check to make sure Oliver is still breech.

Other than that, Jason and I are busy finishing the nursery, fixing the bathroom, and recarpeting the living room :) Can you say procrastinators?? he he.

Frankly Dear, he's Breech...

Frank Breech that is...butt down. It looks like he's staying that way. So, right now we have a c-section scheduled for November 11th. It's in the afternoon, so hopefully we won't get pushed back too long!

I have an appointment a week for the next 3 weeks, and then the c/s the day after the last appointment...21 days away!!

If he turns anytime before that, including the morning of the c/s, they will cancel the c/s and send me home. I was kind of excited to have a set date, time, place, etc...but that's not the case either...

But, he looks pretty comfortable, so I am thinking we will be on for the 11th! She did a quick check and I am not showing any signs of potential labor, so we aren't thinking it will happen before then...but who knows??

The good news is that I didn't gain any weight this time, keeping my total gain to 28 lbs. I'm sure I'll have another spurt, but at this point, I just don't care :) I got 21 days left and I'm going to eat WHATEVER I WANT!!! :)

Baby Bump Update...

and here's the slideshow...I have to back up a little bit to fit in the picture...he he...

My 36 week u/s and check-up are on Monday...I'll update everyone then!!!

34 Week Appt!

So yesterday was my 34 week appointment. It accomplished absolutely nothing! I am now up to 28lbs, which the Dr. said was just fine! Since none of my shoes fit anymore, I can confidently say at least some of it is water weight :)

Since the Dr. couldn't tell whether or not Oliver is still breech, and since I haven't felt him turn or anything, we have scheduled an U/S for October 20th. I will be just under 36 weeks. I have my 36 week appointment right after that and we will discuss what happens next.

So I'm excited to see what's going on in there...I keep feeling for him and I'm sure I'll give him a concussion before the end..he he.

I also washed all of his clothes last night...they all fit into 1 load...but it took me FOREVER to put it all away because there were so many tiny pieces...I am already missing one sock! I think the dryer ate it... :)

50 Days Left

Yay!!! I can't wait to start a countdown!!

Jason painted the nursery and put up the crib this weekend...I am so excited to get shelves and the dresser out and put away all his new stuff :)

32 Week U/S and Check-up!

Jason and I went in for an u/s and check-up on Tuesday afternoon. Oliver is weighing in at 4lbs 10oz!!! That will put him around 9lbs at birth!!! He is still breech and the nurse said that if he doesn't turn by 36 weeks that they will schedule a c-section.

Everything else is measuring and looking great! The u/s tech was so friendly. She showed us Oliver's fingers and toes and even where he has some hair already on the back of his head!

Luckily I must have had a growth spurt last month because I only gained .4 lbs this month! So 24.4 lbs gained at 32 weeks makes me feel so much better!! So much better in fact that Jason and I had McDonald's for lunch :)

I now go every 2 weeks, so I'll be back in the waiting room on October 6th :)

My Baby Shower!!

So, Sunday was my baby shower! Besides the fact that it was raining cats and dogs, everything was great!!

I was amazed by all the gifts! Oliver is going to be one spoiled little boy!

Now we just have to get his room ready!!!

Here are a few pictures!!

28 week Appt

So, yesterday, I had my 28 week appt. That means I had to take my ucky glucose tolerance test. The sugar drink made me want to pass out...which only made waiting over 30 minutes to see the Dr. worse! (You might think 30 minutes is not bad...but I was the FIRST patient at 7:50 AM...Don't let me interupt your morning coffee doc!! grrrr)

Other than that, everything looked great. I am measuring right on schedule, my bp was low...but I've gained 24 lbs!!! Holy Moly Batman!! So, I began to rethink my eating habits at 24 weeks with 18lbs...now I definitely need to rethink at 28 weeks!!! Of course...that means after Labor Day weekend...he he he.

My next appt is not until 32 weeks, but I'll have a growth u/s too, so that will be way fun!!

Wedding Fun!!

Everyone had a great time at Greg and Ashlee's wedding on Friday!

It was a great opportunity to see my newest little nephew, Beckham, and my niece Lexi!! (Not to mention their parents too!!)

The Final Countdown!!!

So...as of today, we have 100 days left until Oliver's due date...EEK! Boy am I ready...and boy am I not!!

Hopefully by next week, I will be able to start on his room! Everything else in the house is such a complete mess I don't know where to start!!

Well, ready or not, here's to double digits!!

Registered!

So...Jason and I registered on Sunday! What an exhausting day! Talk about being overwhelmed!! Luckily we had a book Saundra gave us, and a lot of advice from BTDT (been there done that) Moms!

My last U/S

So, I had a quick check-up ultrasound on 7/14. Even though it was just a cervical check, she got the belly wand out and gave us a peak at Oliver. He's definitely still a boy!! He's also still breach, which is still OK at this point, but that's definitely why I keep feeling him kick my bladder!

I have another u/s check on Monday (7/28), so if this tech is nice, I'll get another peak at Oliver then too! Otherwise we'll have to wait until my 32 week growth u/s in September.

Long time...No Post!!!

So, it seems I took a little break from posting! There haven't been many updates lately, so I have been lazy!!

Let's see...

Jason, me and the girls went up north for the usual 4th of July Celebration. Here are a few pics!!

Pretty obvious all we did was hang out and play with the dogs!!

On that Sunday, we went to a family reunion for Jason's family. It was a fun day, but I don't seem to have any pics...I know I have some printed off, but I swore someone emailed me a few....

That next weekend, Jason, Terry, Linda and I went down to Greenville, OH for Andy's wedding. Again, another long and fun weekend... as long as I don't have to hear "O" "H" "I" "O" again as long as I live...seriously people...get a life!

Jeff's pretty sloshed here:

OB Check-up this Morning!

I had my check-up this morning! Everything looks good so far! I've gained 12 lbs, which my OB says is right on target! (Which I don't know how since I've been stuffing my face for 4 months now!)

Since I've been sick for almost two weeks, she gave me a z-pack and put me on Claritin, rather than Zyrtec. We'll see if this makes any difference. Hopefully it does!!

Other than that, everything is going well. I have 2 super-quick ultrasounds in 2 and 4 weeks to check my cervical length, and another growth ultrasound at 32 weeks.

I bought Oliver's first outfit at Kohl's yesterday. I was super excited and went to lay it out so Jason could see it when he got home, and I noticed that someone had ripped a hole in it, sewed it back together, and must have returned it to the store. Needless to say, I wasn't very impressed...So...back to Kohl's I go.

Kick, Kick, Kick

So, baby Garrett has been kicking away! I just started feeling it a few days ago. Apparently "he" likes Mountain Dew and pizza calzones from Howie's... :)

Tomorrow's the Big Day!!

So, the day we've been waiting for is finally upon us! I am very excited to find out the sex, but more excited to see a healthy baby!!

Jason and I are considering a baby crib made by the Amish. We figured you couldn't get better quality than that!

This is what it looks like:
Ain't it perty?? :)

It takes about 12 weeks to get it made and sent from Pennsylvania...so we better get on it!

Could it be....a baby BOY???!!!

So...Jason and I went for the u/s today. Everything looked great with baby! The tech found some fluid between the baby and my cervix and had the Dr. check. The nurse called me back a few minutes ago and said that the pregnancy was going "awesome" and the little bit of fluid is just my body "resolving" some things. So, everything looks A-OK!

She didn't say for sure, but she did say that, "That looks suspiciously like a penis!"

I wouldn't buy anything blue that you can't take back yet...but we'll have the BIG scan in 3 weeks :) It looks like we're going to be having a little Oliver Daniel Garrett...he he he.

Here's his Skeletor pic:

Suprise Midnight ER Visit :(

So, Jason and I took a wonderful visit to the OB ward at Sparrow around midnight last Thursday because of some mystery bleeding.

After the Nazi Resident was done torturing me, we left without any kind of explanation. She also insisted that an ultrasound was not necessary because they found the heartbeat on the doppler. They already have the machine in the room next door, it was already 3 in the morning...was it a big deal to check??????

So, Jason cancelled his D.C. trip in case there were any more problems, and we went up north. I was super super sore all weekend and went back to the Dr. on Tuesday...just to wait an hour to be told she doesn't know why I am so sore...BUT at least she thought an ultrasound was a good idea, even if she didn't think we would find anything wrong.

SO...I am starting to feel better today, and I have an U/S scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. We are still not sure why I am so sore...but we think it has something to do with the 2 foot stick the resident was poking me with...(You think I'm exaggerating, but the unfortunate part is that i am not...)

I'm predicting and hoping for a normal U/S tomorrow...and we might even get a peak at the sex :) YAY!

2nd Trimester...WHOO HOO!

So today starts the second trimester! Finally we're out of the "scary" first trimester and ready for whatever Baby Garrett throws our way!

Great News!!!

So, the Dr's office just called with my results from the NT scan and blood work...

My original odds based on my age for Down's Syndrome were 1:750....they are now 1:10,000!!!

My original odds based on my age for Trisomy 18 were 1:2600....they are now 1:10,000!!!

So, everything looks good for our little bean! I have another round of blood work at my next OB visit on June 2nd. They will put all the information together and give me the final odds.

It's always nice to hear a bit of good news!

NT Scan Went Well!

Yesterday, Jason and I went back to Sparrow to get what's called an NT scan. The baby measured just fine and we will know the results of the ultrasound combined with the blood work in about a week.

The heart rate was 147, which is keeping me thinking we're having a baby boy, but we've got a little while to wait and see!

and Intelligender says....

BOY!

So, remember, it's just a silly test that "claims" to be 82-90% accurate...but it was fun none-the-less....I guess we'll just have to wait another: 1 month, 2 weeks and 4 days to find out!!

June 20th here we come!!!
