I'm diseased!!! Thanks Mom and Dad!

I somehow got a cancellation appt. at the Dermatologist today and I have been diagnosed with Keratosis Pilaris. Apparently it's a common hereditary condition. For some reason mine is worse with pregnancy. So, I'm off to try an over-the-counter lotion with urea in it...
Also, I was basically told I'm going to have to deal with my acne today, so I am going to be a pizza face for the next 7 months...(Well, pizza face, chest and back...arg!)

Sara, Lexi and I had a great time yesterday, but the shopping was terrible and we wore ourselves out! At least we got dinner out of it :)

Saundra and Evan come in tonight, and tomorrow is the Vera Bradley trunk show in Fort Wayne...I'm hoping to find a good deal. I have been trying to get pictures to go along with my posts, but I can never remember my camera! (Note to self: buy a Vera Bradley purse that's big enough for my camera too...)

Good OB Appt!

Had my first OB appt. with the Dr. today. Everything was just fine! The baby's heartbeat was 160 BPM. Next Wednesday I have an ultrasound and blood work at the perinatal center for Down's Syndrome, and then I won't have anything until the beginning of June...which will be nice, because I feel like I am starting to live in the Dr's Office waiting room!

Also, I have been referred to a Dermatologist for my "wonderful" hormone-induced acne and to check out some moles...so there's another Dr's visit to go to! BAH!

But all-in-all, I'm very happy with what seems like a healthy baby just shy of 11 weeks.

Now...I'm just waiting for the silly Intelligender kit...he he.

Intelligender

So...I know it's completely silly, but how many chances will I have to play around with this?

I ordered the Intelligender kit...it is supposed to be 90% (82% home use) accurate in detecting the gender of your baby after 10 weeks. www.intelligender.com

There's a poll on my forum and we're going to see how many of them were right...I'm not going to go out and buy pink or blue anytime soon...but for $35, I couldn't resist...

I'll let everyone know my results when I get the kit!

Busy girl and baby-filled week ahead!

This week should prove to be a fun week! Tuesday I'm meeting Sara and Alexis to go maternity clothes shopping at Kohl's (Yay extra 15% off!) Then Thursday, I'm planning on going to Ft. Wayne, IN to go to a Vera Bradley trunk show with Saundra, Linda and Evan! It'll be a girl- and baby-filled week, which will be nice since I haven't seen either Evan or Lexi in quite a while!!!

Welcome!!

So, since everyone is everywhere, I thought I would find a way to write down everything that's been going on with our new baby! I think I will write here much more than a journal, and since we all have these handy-dandy computers, I figured this was the way to go!

So, let's run down the first 10 weeks so we can start from scratch! (If I could only do that with my scrapbooking...just thinking about it makes me nervous!!)

As I'm sure most, or all, of you know, Jason and I have been trying to become pregnant for over a year. We had a non-viable pregnancy that ended in October, and then we were waiting for the "green light" to try again. When "nothing" happened, we switched Dr's and tried a fertility medication called Clomid. It worked on the first round!

After the previous complications, we were super-concerned about telling anyone. This was very difficult, because of course I was OBSESSED! Luckily, I found a message board with lots of ladies who were TTC (trying to conceive) and I was able to talk about what we were going through. Once we were pregnant, I moved onto another board with other ladies due in November, and they have been my life-support thus far.

So, through this board I found out about the "best" and "most sensitive" pregnancy tests and ordered a bunch off ebay. They came in the mail Saturday, March 8th, just after Jason went to work. Of course I was holding my pee all morning just waiting for them to come. I went and ran to the bathroom and took the test...it was positive!!! I was 3 weeks and 3 days PREGNANT!!

I called Jason right away! He told me I couldn't tell anyone...so I called my friend at work..he he. But, she doesn't count because she didn't know my family. I got it out of my system, and went antiquing with my Mom the next day...I made it 10 minutes...he he. She swore an oath of silence...

I had several blood draws and my hCG counts were doubling fast! So that was great!!

On March 25th, Jason and I went to our first u/s at 5 weeks 6 days. The baby was the tiniest thing ever, and the tech said that if we were one day earlier, we might have missed it! The heartbeat was 109 BPM!

At that point, we told our immediate family. I told Mom to tell Dad, and she said, "Oh, I already told him weeks ago!" So, my Mom is officially a traitor!!!

Around 8 weeks, I ordered a fetal doppler. It is the device the Dr's use to hear the baby's heart beat. I finally found it around 9 weeks while Jason was at work...everytime I tried to call him, the baby would move and I couldn't find it! But it was an awesome experience that I got to share with Hermie, Trudy and Fran. (They were sleeping on the couch....he he)

On April 23rd, I had an appointment at the Perinatal Center with Dr. Roth. He's the specialist that diagnosed our first pregnancy. The ultrasound went great, and he found nothing to be worried about!! The heartbeat was 167 BPM.

At the consultation, we scheduled an NT Scan (for Down's syndrome) which is another ultrasound...(that's why I selected to get it!) for May 7th. Then I will have my BIG ultrasound on June 20th!!! I can't wait!!
